Training load
Daily movement and every workout count. One number a day, 0–21.
Heart-rate zones and activity are tallied every 5 minutes, never double-counting workouts. Your target range follows last night's sleep: sleep well and it rises; sleep less and it tightens, so you know how much is just right today.

FAQ
Accuracy, who it's for, and limits
Q
Is HOOP a medical device?
A
No. Neither the HOOP band nor the NEXTBODY App is a medical device, and neither is meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Heart rate, SpO2, HRV, skin temperature, sleep, body composition, readiness, training load and related tips are for everyday wellness only, not medical decisions. If you feel unwell, see a doctor.
Q
How accurate is Body Scan (BIA) body fat?
A
Body Scan measures bioimpedance and combines it with the height, weight, age and sex in the App to estimate body composition. Results are estimates and can differ from smart scales or DEXA. The current runs between your arms and upper body; lower-body values are inferred. Drinking, eating, exercise, sweat and time of day all affect results, so measure under the same conditions each time (e.g. on waking, fasted, before exercise). It's best for long-term trends.
Q
Who shouldn't use Body Scan?
A
Do not use Body Scan if you have a pacemaker, implantable defibrillator or other implanted electronic medical device. It's not recommended during pregnancy, with metal implants, or on broken or inflamed skin, where results may also be inaccurate.
Q
Does the band measure weight and BMR?
A
No. The band can't weigh you. Body Scan uses the latest weight you entered in the App, and fat and lean mass are calculated from it, so update your weight before scanning. The BMR from Body Scan is a device estimate; the App's daily calorie target uses a formula based on height, weight, age and sex, so the two may differ.
Q
How is the sleep score calculated?
A
Out of 100, weighted across seven factors by HOOP's own rules: total sleep 40, REM 15, deep 15, efficiency 10, restfulness 10, latency 5, timing 5. Factors without data are skipped and the rest re-normalised; latency isn't used yet. The rules draw on Oura's published sleep factors but are not Oura's algorithm or a clinical scale. Heart rate, HRV, SpO2 and respiration are supporting data and don't count toward the score.
Q
Why is REM missing on some nights?
A
Whether REM is recorded depends on the type of sleep record the band made that night. No REM data means it wasn't measured, not that you had no REM sleep; that night's score is re-normalised over the other factors.
Q
Low night SpO2 or HRV: is something wrong?
A
Night SpO2 is measured only during recorded sleep and shows the night's average, minimum and curve; it is not for diagnosing or grading sleep apnea. Night HRV is RMSSD during sleep, a reference for fatigue and recovery. Respiration is also recorded only during sleep; there's no daytime breathing tracking. A loose fit, movement, pressure on the arm or a cold room can affect readings. If values stay unusual or you feel unwell, see a doctor.
Q
Can I train straight off readiness and load?
A
Readiness (0–100) starts from last night's sleep and compares your recent night HRV and resting heart rate with your personal baseline; training load (0–21) tallies heart-rate zones and activity every 5 minutes. Baselines build up with continuous wear, so the first two weeks lean on population norms. Both are algorithm estimates for reference only and don't replace a coach or doctor. If you feel chest tightness, dizziness or palpitations while exercising, stop and seek medical help.
Q
What does 98.2% heart-rate accuracy mean?
A
It comes from specific test scenarios and conditions. In real use, fit and position, exercise intensity, wrist hair, tattoos, skin tone, skin moisture and temperature can all affect readings, so accuracy may differ. Readings can fluctuate more with vigorous or irregular wrist movement, such as strength training or ball sports.
Q
Can I swim or shower with HOOP?
A
HOOP is rated IP68 for dust and water. Wear it for hand-washing, rain, sweat and shallow-water activities such as pool swimming. It's not for diving, high-board jumps, hot showers, hot springs, saunas or high-speed water. Rinse with fresh water and dry after sea or pool use. Don't run Body Scan in water or with wet skin. Nylon straps take a while to dry, and staying damp can irritate skin. Water resistance isn't permanent and may decline over time.
Q
Does one charge really last 5 days?
A
Five days comes from specific test conditions. Real battery life varies with tracking settings, workout time, how often you scan or measure, sync frequency and temperature, and capacity declines gradually over time.
Q
How are 10g and 8mm measured? Is the comparison fair?
A
8mm and 10g are for the device body without the strap; results can vary with where and how it's measured, so the product itself is the reference. Every product in the weight chart was measured without its strap. Other products' weights can vary by model, version and batch; the chart only illustrates the difference.
Q
How accurate are food calories and macros?
A
Calories, protein, carbs and fat are estimated from the food type and portion you describe, not weighed or lab-tested, so they may differ from what you actually ate. Daily targets are general guidance, not a nutrition prescription. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, have a chronic condition or special dietary needs, follow your doctor's advice.
Q
Is connecting ChatGPT, Claude or other AI (MCP) safe?
A
You sign in and authorise it yourself, and the assistant can only read your own account's data. Meal logging is off by default; when on, the AI confirms the food, portion and time with you before saving. Once data is sent to a third-party AI service, that service's privacy policy applies, so decide for yourself. The assistant's analysis and advice are for reference only, not medical, nutrition or training prescriptions.
Q
Which phones does HOOP support?
A
The NEXTBODY App supports iPhone on iOS 17 or later and Android phones on Android 9 or later. Update the band firmware and the App to the latest version first; some features depend on the App version.
Q
Do the colours and screens match the real thing?
A
Strap colour and texture can look different depending on photography, lighting and your display; the product itself is the reference. Phone screens are real NEXTBODY App screenshots with demo data. People and scenes are illustrative, and features and screens may change with updates.
Notes
1.
8mm and 10g refer to the device body without the strap; results may vary with measurement position, method and tools. The product itself is the reference.
2.
The stretch-woven nylon strap fits wrists of about 135–210 mm; other straps may differ. "Forget it's on" and "comfy all night" describe subjective comfort and vary by person.
3.
All weights in the comparison chart were measured without straps. Other products' figures may vary by model, version and batch; the chart only illustrates the difference.
4.
The four colourways come in woven nylon and honeycomb silicone, with tool-free hook-and-loop straps. The product itself is the reference for colour and texture; dry woven straps promptly after water or heavy sweat.
5.
98.2% heart-rate accuracy comes from specific test scenarios and conditions; real-world accuracy may vary with fit, exercise intensity, wrist hair, tattoos, skin tone and environment.
6.
Heart rate is tracked all day. SpO2 is measured only during recorded sleep and is not for diagnosing or grading sleep apnea. Skin temperature is wrist-surface temperature, not body temperature, and can't indicate fever or illness.
7.
The Sleep algorithm 2.0 vs. Oura Ring comparison is a single result from one person wearing both on the same night; total sleep excludes time awake. "99.5% total-sleep agreement" refers to that comparison. Results vary by person and night, and are not clinical findings.
8.
The sleep score weights seven factors (total sleep 40, REM 15, deep 15, efficiency 10, restfulness 10, latency 5, timing 5); missing factors are re-normalised and latency isn't used yet. The rules draw on Oura's published factors but were set by HOOP; they are not Oura's proprietary algorithm or a clinical scale.
9.
Deep, light and REM stages are inferred from heart rate and movement. Whether REM is recorded depends on that night's record type; no record doesn't mean no REM sleep.
10.
Night HRV is RMSSD during sleep, a reference for fatigue and recovery but not for medical decisions. Personal HRV and resting-HR baselines build from the 14th valid night; a loose fit or lots of movement can reduce accuracy.
11.
Readiness (0–100) starts from last night's sleep and compares night HRV and resting heart rate with your 14-day baseline, updating every 5 minutes during the day. Training load (0–21) tallies heart-rate zones and activity every 5 minutes without double-counting workouts, and the daily range adjusts with sleep. Both are algorithm estimates for reference only.
12.
"67 health metrics in 11 groups" reflects what the App shows and may change with updates.
13.
Body Scan uses bioimpedance, takes about 30 seconds and requires holding the side key. The 14 metrics (BMI, BMR, body fat %, fat mass, subcutaneous fat %, lean mass, muscle %, muscle mass, skeletal muscle %, body water %, water mass, bone mass, protein %, protein mass) are estimates from impedance plus the height, weight, age and sex you enter. Weight is entered by you, not measured by the band. Do not use with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic medical device.
14.
"5 days per charge" comes from specific test conditions. Real battery life varies with tracking settings, workout time, scans and measurements, sync frequency and temperature, and capacity declines over time.
15.
"Every 5 minutes" means all-day data is summarised in 5-minute intervals; each metric's actual sampling rate may differ.
16.
The 48 workout modes reflect what the App supports. Workout heart rate, time, distance and calories are band measurements and algorithm estimates and may differ from GPS, treadmills or other devices.
17.
IP68 dust and water resistance does not cover diving, high-board jumps, hot showers, hot springs, saunas or high-speed water. Don't run Body Scan in water or with wet skin. Water resistance isn't permanent and may decline over time.
18.
Food calories and macros are estimated from food type and portion descriptions, not weighed or lab-tested; daily targets are general guidance, not a nutrition prescription.
19.
NEXTBODY MCP: connecting a third-party AI assistant requires your own sign-in and authorisation, and it can only read your data. Meal logging is off by default and must be turned on, with confirmation before saving. Data sent to a third-party AI service is handled under its privacy policy. Supported assistants may vary; AI advice is for reference only.
20.
Phone screens are real NEXTBODY App screenshots with demo data. People and scenes are illustrative; features and screens follow the actual App and may change with updates.
21.
Oura, Oura Ring, WHOOP, Apple Watch, iPhone, ChatGPT, Claude, Grok Bot, Muse and other third-party names and trademarks belong to their owners. They're mentioned only to describe compatibility or comparison and do not imply partnership, licensing or endorsement.
